The government pledges $5.22 million in aid to communities affected by the Middle East crisis.

In order to assist communities affected by the ongoing Middle East crisis, the federal government has announced funding of $5.22 million for 37 organisations. The funding is a component of a $25 million pledge to support the Arab, Muslim, and Palestinian communities, according to a statement released by Immigration Minister Andrew Giles. The text of the statement is as follows:

Nothing is free like a free press. Give now to help sustain independent journalism in your community.

It's evident from recent events that there has never been a better moment to support local news. Donate now to help sustain independent reporting.

He also added, “Our approach supports both short and long term impacts of the conflict- enabling funding to be distributed rapidly to communities most in need while also building capacity in affected communities.”

“Our priority is to provide support to those that have been impacted, and to enhance and foster community connection during these challenging times.” Giles said.

$3.22 million will be given to 35 organisations to start new social cohesion projects, and $2 million will be given to two organisations to run community programmes that will assist young Australian Muslims and Palestinians.
